Posting this as a public service announcement because I'm still annoyed about it.
Last month I hired a writer from this forum (username was "Dr. Academic" or something like that—very professional sounding). They had decent reviews, seemed knowledgeable about my field (Public Health), so I paid for a 8-page literature review. Around $300.
The paper I got was... fine? Not great, not terrible. But the bigger issue was that they missed the deadline by 3 days and were super rude when I asked about it. Like, "do you want the paper or not" energy.
I left an honest review—3 stars, explained the deadline issue and the attitude. Nothing crazy, didn't even call them a scammer.
A week later, I noticed my review was gone. And the username? Changed to "ResearchPro2024". Same profile picture, same bio, but new name.
I checked the old thread and sure enough, all the negative reviews were gone. Only the 5-star ones stayed. This person is literally deleting and recreating their identity to avoid bad feedback.
So here's my advice:

So here's my advice:
- Take screenshots of usernames before you hire someone.
- Check if the same writer has had multiple usernames.
- If a review thread seems too positive (like all 5 stars, no variety), be suspicious.
