A writer from India quoted me half the price of a US writer. Is the quality gap real?

I'm going to ask a question that feels uncomfortable, and I hope you'll receive it with the kindness I'm trying to offer. Because this isn't about stereotypes or assumptions—it's about patterns I'm seeing and trying to understand. 🌏💭

The Situation:

I've been looking for help with a 6-page paper on inclusive classroom strategies for my Special Education certificate. I've talked to three writers:
  • Writer A: Based in US, MA in Education, quoted $45/page
  • Writer B: Based in UK, teaching experience, quoted $40/page
  • Writer C: Based in India, BA in Education, quoted $22/page
Writer C's samples were... okay? The grammar was mostly correct, the ideas were relevant, but something about the flow felt slightly off. Like reading a translation, even though it was in English.

The Question:

Is the quality gap real, or is it about expectations? About familiarity with US academic culture? About access to resources?

I've read forum posts where people say "avoid writers from [certain countries]" and it makes me cringe. But I've also received papers from international writers that missed the mark in ways that felt cultural, not skill-based—like they didn't understand what a US professor means by "critical analysis" versus "summary."

The Nuance:

I'm an education major. I spend my days learning about how different backgrounds, experiences, and resources shape outcomes. So I know that judging someone by their location is the opposite of what I believe.

But I also know that my grade depends on this paper. And if Writer C hasn't been trained in US academic conventions, that's not their fault, but it also doesn't help me.

The Writer's Perspective:

I wonder what it's like for international writers trying to break into this market. They charge less because they can, because the cost of living is lower, because they're competing with domestic writers who have "insider" knowledge. Is that unfair? Or is that just... the market?

The Decision:

I haven't decided yet. Part of me wants to work with Writer C, give clear guidance, see if they can adapt. Another part feels like I can't afford to take a risk on a paper worth 25% of my grade.

What do you think, forum friends? Have you had good experiences with international writers? Bad ones? How do you evaluate quality beyond just price and location?

I'm genuinely curious, not trying to start fights. Let's talk about this like the grown-ups we're pretending to be. 🌟
