My English professor assigned a 5-page argumentative essay on "The Impact of Technology on Society." That's it. That's the whole prompt. No direction, no specific questions, just... go.

I've been staring at a blank doc for two days. Every time I think of something, I google it and find 10,000 articles already written. How am I supposed to be original??
Ideas I've considered (and why I'm stuck):
Thanks!!
I've been staring at a blank doc for two days. Every time I think of something, I google it and find 10,000 articles already written. How am I supposed to be original??
Ideas I've considered (and why I'm stuck):
- Social media and mental health
- So overdone. My professor will fall asleep reading the 50th "Instagram bad for teens" paper.
- AI and jobs
- Also overdone. Plus I don't know enough about economics to sound smart.
- Smartphones and attention spans
- Interesting but how do I prove it? Feels like a opinion not an argument.
- Remote work technology
- Kinda relevant but also... boring??
- Technology in education (post-COVID)
- This hits close to home (I did online school for a year) but again, how to make it fresh??
- Finding sources
- Organizing arguments
- Making connections
- A specific ANGLE. Something debatable. Something where I can take a side.
- "Remote work technology actually INCREASES inequality" (debatable!)
- "Smartphones should be banned in classrooms" (controversial!)
- "AI art isn't real art because..." (people get mad!)
Thanks!!
