Help! I need a topic for my 'Impact of Technology' essay. So broad.

My English professor assigned a 5-page argumentative essay on "The Impact of Technology on Society." That's it. That's the whole prompt. No direction, no specific questions, just... go.

I've been staring at a blank doc for two days. Every time I think of something, I google it and find 10,000 articles already written. How am I supposed to be original??

Ideas I've considered (and why I'm stuck):

1. Social media and mental health
   
   • So overdone. My professor will fall asleep reading the 50th "Instagram bad for teens" paper.
2. AI and jobs
   
   • Also overdone. Plus I don't know enough about economics to sound smart.
3. Smartphones and attention spans
   
   • Interesting but how do I prove it? Feels like a opinion not an argument.
4. Remote work technology
   
   • Kinda relevant but also... boring??
5. Technology in education (post-COVID)
   
   • This hits close to home (I did online school for a year) but again, how to make it fresh??

What I'm good at:

• Finding sources
• Organizing arguments
• Making connections

What I need:

• A specific ANGLE. Something debatable. Something where I can take a side.

Examples of angles I like:

• "Remote work technology actually INCREASES inequality" (debatable!)
• "Smartphones should be banned in classrooms" (controversial!)
• "AI art isn't real art because..." (people get mad!)

Can you guys help me brainstorm?? Throw out some specific, debatable, slightly spicy takes on technology. I'll pick one and run with it.
